PDF editors that don't upload your files anywhere
If you are handling bank statements, legal contracts, or medical records, the last thing you want to do is upload them to a random "Free PDF Editor" website. Most online PDF tools and many mobile apps don't actually process files on your device - they upload your sensitive documents to a cloud server.
Local, on-device processing
Editrix PDF is designed for privacy. Every single feature in the app runs entirely on your device's own processor.
- No cloud uploads: Your files never leave your phone.
- Works entirely offline: You can turn on Airplane Mode and still edit, sign, compress, or convert your PDFs.
- Zero data retention: Because we don't have servers processing your files, we literally cannot store, read, or sell your documents.
How to check any app's claim, including ours
"Processed on your device" is easy to write and hard to verify, so here is a test that costs nothing: turn on Airplane Mode and try the feature. A tool that genuinely runs locally keeps working with no network at all. A tool that uploads will hang, time out, or tell you to check your connection.
Editing, converting, compressing, signing, merging and scanning in Editrix all work offline. The app connects for exactly two things, both unrelated to your documents: fetching ads, and Google Play billing if you buy Remove Ads. Neither sees a file you opened.
Permissions are part of the story
An app that wants access to all your storage can read every document you own, whether or not you opened it in that app. Editrix uses Android's system file picker instead, so it receives access to the one file you chose and nothing else. There is no broad storage permission to grant, which means there is no standing access to revoke later.
What we can and cannot see
This is a structural claim rather than a promise. We do not operate a server that processes documents, so there is no place a file could be stored, no log it could appear in, and nothing to hand over if someone asked. It is not that we choose not to look - there is no mechanism by which we could.
To be complete: the app does show ads, and the ad networks collect the usual advertising identifiers described in our privacy policy. That is about the device, never about your documents, and personalised ads can be switched off in Settings.
When another tool is better
If several people need to work on the same document at once, or you want it synced across devices, you need a cloud service - that is the trade being made, and it is a reasonable one for non-sensitive work. For a bank statement, a contract, or medical paperwork, keeping the file on the device that already holds it is the safer default.
