Your files stay on your phone

The short version

Editrix PDF ("Editrix," "the app," "we") is an Android app for viewing, editing, and converting PDF and document files. It has no server, no account system, and no cloud sync. Every file you open is read, edited, and saved directly on your device - Editrix never uploads it anywhere. The sections below explain the places where that isn't the whole story: advertising, in-app purchases, and crash reporting, each handled by a third party rather than by us directly. None of them receives your documents.

Your documents

Files you open in Editrix - PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, images, and anything you convert between those formats - are processed entirely on your device using local storage and the Android permissions you grant the app to access them. We do not have a server that receives, stores, or has access to these files, and we cannot see their contents, their names, or what you do with them. Text recognition (OCR) also runs on-device; scanned pages and the text extracted from them never leave your phone either.

Advertising

Editrix shows banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded-video ads. Ads are served through Unity LevelPlay (formerly ironSource), which runs an auction between several advertising networks each time an ad is shown. The networks currently able to take part are ironSource, Unity Ads, and Liftoff Monetize (Vungle). Which one serves a given ad depends on that auction.

These networks may collect your Android advertising ID, general device and network information, and - to detect fraud and to know which app store the app came from - whether certain app-store apps are installed on your device. They may also infer an approximate location from your IP address. Editrix does not request location permission and cannot read your device's location. This collection is governed by each network's own policies rather than ours: Unity (LevelPlay and Unity Ads) and Liftoff.

You can turn off personalised ads. Settings > Privacy > "Personalised ads" tells these networks not to use your advertising ID to choose what you see, and signals an opt-out of the sale or sharing of your data. You will still see ads, but they will be chosen from context rather than from you.

You can remove all ads permanently through the one-time "Remove Ads" purchase inside the app - once bought, the ad SDK is not started at all, and no advertising identifier is collected.

Versions of Editrix released before September 2026 served ads through Google AdMob instead. If you are running one of those, the equivalent disclosures are in how Google uses data from AdMob.

In-app purchases

The "Remove Ads" purchase is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. Editrix receives confirmation that a purchase was made so it can turn ads off - it does not receive or store your payment details, which stay with Google.

Crash reports and usage analytics

Editrix uses Google Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics. When the app crashes, Crashlytics sends a report containing the crash itself - the stack trace, the device model, the Android version, and an app-generated installation identifier - so the fault can be found and fixed. Analytics records anonymous, aggregate usage such as which screens are opened and which tools are used, which tells us what to improve.

Neither receives your documents, their contents, or their file names. Crash reports are generated automatically by the crash itself; we cannot use them to read a file you had open. This data is processed by Google under Firebase's privacy and security terms.

Permissions

Editrix asks for storage/file access so you can open and save documents, and camera access if you use the Scan to PDF feature. Both are used only to carry out the action you requested - opening a file, saving a file, or capturing a page - and nothing is transmitted off the device as a result.

Children's privacy

Editrix is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because the app displays ads, the same age and consent considerations that apply to any ad-supported app apply here. Editrix declares itself as not directed to children to the mediation platform, which passes that declaration on to every advertising network in the auction - limiting what may be collected and ruling out personalised advertising for child users.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
