Do I need an account to use Editrix?+
No. There's no sign-up or login anywhere in the app — install it and open a file.
Where are my files stored?+
Wherever you opened them from — your device's own storage. Editrix saves back to that same location by default; it doesn't copy files into some separate app-only folder or upload them anywhere.
Why do I see ads?+
Editrix is free to download with no subscription, and ads are how that stays possible. If you'd rather not see them, "Remove Ads" in Settings is a one-time purchase that turns them off for good.
I paid for Remove Ads — why do I still see ads?+
This can happen if the purchase hasn't finished syncing with Google Play, or if you're signed into a different Google account than the one that made the purchase. Restarting the app usually resolves it; if ads are still showing after that, email us with your Google Play order number.
Does Editrix work without an internet connection?+
Yes. Editing, form filling, OCR, redaction, signing, and format conversion all run on-device. The only things that need a connection are downloading the app itself and loading ads.
What Android version does it need?+
Android 8.0 (Oreo) or newer.
Which file formats can I convert?+
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, plain text, and images convert to PDF; PDF converts back to Word. Formatting — fonts, colors, tables, images, shapes — carries over based on how much of it the original file actually uses; very unusual or highly customized documents may not convert with full fidelity.
Is redaction actually permanent?+
Yes — redacting removes the underlying text from the page, not just a black box drawn over it. Save a copy of the original first if you might need the unredacted version later, because this can't be undone once saved.
Can I recover a file I accidentally overwrote?+
Not through the app — Editrix saves directly back to the file you opened and doesn't keep its own version history. If your device has a separate backup or trash/recycle feature through its file manager or cloud storage app, that's the place to check.
